Riyadh: Diriyah has been one of the Global Eco-Friendly Destinations for 2025 by the British travel platform Wanderlust, which annually spotlights leading destinations dedicated to sustainable tourism.
This prestigious recognition resulted from a collaborative nomination by the Saudi Tourism Authority and the Diriyah Gate Development Authority, emphasizing Diriyah’s strong initiatives in environmental, cultural, and tourism sustainability.
Fahd Hamidaddin, CEO and Board Member of the Saudi Tourism Authority, highlighted that Diriyah’s selection reflects Saudi Arabia’s increasing commitment to sustainable tourism and its strategic efforts to empower local partners while promoting national destinations internationally.
He noted that this accolade strengthens the Kingdom’s position as the world’s fastest-growing tourism destination.
Jerry Inzerillo, CEO of the Diriyah Gate Development Authority, expressed pride in the achievement, underscoring Diriyah’s historical significance as the cradle of the Saudi state and its dedication to preserving heritage through high environmental and cultural sustainability standards.
He also acknowledged the vital partnership with the Saudi Tourism Authority in elevating Saudi destinations on the global stage.
This recognition aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals to expand its global tourism presence.
The Saudi Tourism Authority continues to support its partners across the tourism ecosystem, contributing to the Kingdom’s impressive milestone of welcoming approximately 116 million visitors in 2024 and maintaining momentum toward the 2030 target of 150 million visitors.
